How to Request Ponchos
Cape Ivy provides ponchos to children who need warmth and comfort while receiving medical care. Ponchos are provided free to hospitals, medical facilities and Ronald McDonald Houses through the generous support of donors, sponsors and grants.
Cape Ivy also partners with service organizations and small nonprofits that want to distribute ponchos to children in their communities.
Choose the option below that best describes you.
Hospital / Infusion Clinics / Medical Facility
Ponchos are provided free to you through the generous donations of our friends, sponsors and grants. No payment is required. If your child life department has a private donor, a hospital foundation or hospital auxiliary, please recommend a donation to Cape Ivy to help provide more ponchos to your hospital. If you know of local grants, please let us know and we will write a grant proposal so we can provide even more ponchos to you.
- Sizing:
The ponchos come in 3 sizes (toddler, child, teen) and in a variety of fun prints.
- Recipients:
They are best for children with chronic illness who frequent hospitals often or for long stays. We have learned from Child Life Specialists that the ponchos are most useful for the patients being treated in hematology/oncology units and outpatient infusion centers. But any child who needs comforting or warmth may be given a poncho.
Residential / Ronald McDonald House
Ponchos are provided free to Ronald McDonald Houses through the generous support of our donors, sponsors and grants.
No payment is required. Please consider helping us financially so that we can provide as many ponchos as requested.
- Ask a donor to sponsor a shipment. A donation of $200 provides the Ronald McDonald House with a box containing 15-20 ponchos.
- Share Cape Ivy in your newsletters and social media.
- Share information with Cape Ivy any local grants in your area that might fund Cape Ivy.

Nonprofit / Service Organization
Cape Ivy is excited to partner with other nonprofits and service organizations.
- We have provided ponchos to other small nonprofits who donate ponchos along with other gifts and trinkets to children receiving medical care.
- We have also worked with service organizations who have sponsored ponchos for their local hospital.
We ask only for a donation to Cape Ivy that covers our cost of the ponchos, which is $10 per poncho.
Parents & Guardians of a Child in Need
We are sorry your child is experiencing a medical journey that requires hospital stays or ongoing treatment.
Please first ask a Child Life Specialist or other staff member if Cape Ivy ponchos are available at your child’s hospital, clinic, or other place of care. If ponchos are not available, please ask a staff member to request ponchos for the facility using one of the request forms above.
If a staff member is unable to make the request, parents and guardians may contact Cape Ivy directly
